Sunday night jazz

The Coal City High School and Middle School jazz bands will present Jazz Night on Sunday, April 14 at Coal City High School. The program will begin at 3 p.m. and is open to the public.

The event will begin with the high school jazz band—The Penultimates followed by the middle school. The two groups will combine on a piece, there will be a jazz bassoon duet and the evening will conclude with a final set by The Penultimates.

Donations will be taken at the door and all funds raised will be split equally between the two groups. The funds will be used for jazz competitions, new jazz fronts for both ensembles, hosting jazz clinicians to work with the ensembles and potential trips to see professional jazz bands.

The high school jazz band is under the direction of Hope Connelly and the middle school jazz band is directed by Andrew Brimm.
