A bit of Broadway

 

The Coal City Theatre Department held its annual Broadway Bound concert on Saturday, Oct. 28. The cabaret performance served as a fundraiser ahead of the students upcoming educational trip to New York City in spring 2024.

 

Senior Elaina Patten served as the emcee for the evening and provided the audience with a performance of Little Girls from Annie. She also collaborated on a number from Hadestown  with sophomore Mason Hamilton who sang Hey Little Song Bird. 

 

Participating freshmen were —Caroline Childers and Gavin Clubb. Sophomores taking part in the show were Austin Harding and Bella Byers. Juniors Melody Kinder and Mason Natyshok also took the stage. Seniors participating were Chessa Kuhel, Stephen Byers, Jr. and Jared Counterman.

 

Coal CIty Middle School students Lexi Dearth and Gianna Carver also participated. They will be back on the Coal City Performing Arts Center stage in the upcoming production of High School Musical, Jr.  The shows will be presented Nov. 9, 11 and 12. The Coal City Theatre Department will also be holding its first mattress fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 4. There are a variety of mattress and bed  frames to choose from, as well as bedding accessories. The fundraiser will be held at Coal City High School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will go to support the students trip.
