In Mr. Larson’s and Mrs. Roseland’s first hour math class at Coal City Middle School students just finished their rational numbers unit where they learned how to apply the four operations with integers.
Over the next few weeks, students will be learning how to find unit rate and relating the unit rate as a constant of proportionality. They will be looking at the relationship of constant of proportionality in tables, equations and graphs. They will finish this unit in the next few weeks and then will move on to percentages
In Mr. Larson’s second and third hour math students recently finished up a unit on real numbers. Students learned how to convert repeating decimals to fractions, exponents rules, and how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers written in scientific notation.
Students are now working in unit rates, constant proportionality and graphing constant proportionality. The next unit that they will be working on is percentages and equations.
