Mr. Looper’s science classes are learning a wide variety of topics as the year comes to a close.
The 8th grade classes are learning about body systems and the physiology that goes along with them. Emphasis is on how the systems work together to maintain and regulate the body. Hands on activities and modeling are being used to discuss these topics.
The 7th grade classes are finishing up their ecology unit. Interaction among organisms and their environments are being discussed. The topic of invasive species like the Asian carp are being used to introduce the ideas and allowing for students to have discussions about the trade-offs of dealing with these organisms.
The 6th grade students are starting their weather units. Severe weather and what to do in these situations are being researched while the fundamental elements of weather are being introduced. The unit ends with students looking at how meteorologists forecast weather.
