During Thanksgiving week, students in Ms. Fisk’s fifth grade class reviewed their decimal skills by planning the ultimate Thanksgiving feast. The students worked in pairs and were required to track their budget, while meeting the requirements of the feast, using various newspaper advertisements.
Throughout the review activity, students needed to multiply decimals to decide the total cost of items. The students also had to subtract decimals, to know their remaining budget after purchasing an item. Students used collaboration skills to decide what Thanksgiving traditions they wanted to maintain at their feast.
Overall, the students reviewed their acquired math skills while collaborating with peers to plan the best Thanksgiving possible!
