The week of Thanksgiving is always a short week for our students, which makes it the perfect time for Classgiving!
This year, Coal City Elementary School teacher Mrs. Vahle-Reck found a story and activity to go along with the Thanksgiving story. As she explained, each part of the story had a food that represented something in the story. For example: the winter was cold and hard; add marshmallows to represent the snow.
“We took turns reading the sections of the story, finding the foods, and putting them into the bowl. Everyone got to enjoy their hard work and snack on the Thanksgiving mix,” she said, adding, “this was the third year of having a Classgiving with my students. It is always a fun way to enjoy the last day before Thanksgiving break. I hope to continue it for many years to come.”
