Last week, Miss Shirkey’s class learned all about Veterans Day, a special time when we say thank you to the people who help keep our country safe. They talked about veterans and why people wear red poppies to remember their bravery and kindness. The children made their own poppy flowers to wear, and practiced saying, “We remember you” and “Thank you for helping our country.” They also learned that there are six different groups in the military, and each one has people who work hard to help others. The class connected these ideas to being kind, being brave, and showing gratitude, big concepts made simple through stories, pictures, and hands-on activities.
