Marching Coalers honor senior members

Senior members of the Coalers Marching Band were recognized during Senior Night activities on Friday, Oct. 18. Honored for their commitment and contributions to the newly revived program were—Jacob Cimino, Sawyer Daffron, Nathan Foster, Grace Heatherwick, Kyla Kohler, Addison Kraus, Hailey Ledesma, Martin Ramirez, Olivia Sage, Liam Seeley, William VanCura, Rhaina Vanek, Meadow Viano, Sam Vota, Nicholas Votta, and Abby Kodat.

 

Jacob Cimino was recognized for his commitment to the music department, specifically as a four year member of the Marching Coalers Band where he is part of the drum line. Jacob is a member of the school’s National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Music Honor Society, Math Team, Scholastic Bowl Team, Science Club and Speech Team—having qualified for the IHSA State Speech Finals. Jacob plans to continue his education in the field of computer science at a four year university. On Senior Night, Jacob was accompanied by his parents, Rachael and Daniel Cimino. 

 

Sawyer Daffron was recognized for his four year commitment to the Coalers Marching Band during Senior Night activities on Oct. 17. Sawyer is also a member of the Music Honor Society. Following graduation, he plans to attend Joliet Junior College with a plan to become an electrician. Escorting Sawyer on Senior Night were his parents, Nichole and Aaron Cox. 

 

Nathan Foster is a four year member of the Coalers Marching Band and his contributions were honored on Senior Night. He is also a member of the Music Honor Society and Science Club at Coal City High School. After graduation, Nathan plans to continue his education at a four year college or university. Nathan was accompanied on Senior Night by his parents, Mike Foster and Jillian Foster. 

 

Grace Heatherwick is a four year member of the Coalers Marching Band color guard. She is also involved in Speech Team, Spanish Honors Society, Madrigals and Project EmpowHer. Grace plans to enlist in the United States Air Force following graduation in the spring. Accompanying Grace on Senior Night were her parents, Adam and Shauna Heatherwick and Sandra and Edson Peacock.

 

Kyla Kohler is a four year member of the Marching Coalers and her contributions were recognized on Senior Night. Kyla is also a member of the Girls Tennis Team and member of Spanish Honor Society. After graduation, Kyla plans to enroll in  Joliet Junior College’s nursing program and then continue her education at a four year college or university. Accompanying Kyla on Senior Night were her parents, Jillian and William Kohler. 

 

Addison Kraus is a four year member of the Marching Coalers and her commitment to the music program was recognized on Senior Night. Addison is also a member of the Art Club. Following graduation in the spring, she plans to attend Joliet Junior College to study forensic psychology. On Senior Night, Addison was escorted by Melissa and Tony Kraus. 

 

Hailey Ledesma was recognized on Senior Night for her four years as a member of the Coalers Marching Band. Hailey is also a member of the Track and Field Team and Students Standing Strong. After graduation, Hailey plans to attend the fire academy and pursue a career with the Coal City Fire Protection District. Hailey was escorted by her parents, John and Tammy Ledesma. 

 

Martin Ramirez is a four year member of the Coalers Marching Band and his contributions to the program were recognized on Senior Night. While at Coal City High School, Martin has been a state qualifying tennis player, member of the Soccer Team, Music Honor Society, Drama Club, Theatre Department, Musical Pit and National Honor Society. After graduation, Martin plans to continue his education and become a pilot. Escorting Martin on Senior Night were his parents, Noel and Crystal Ramirez. 

 

Olivia Sage is a three year member of the Marching Coalers Band. At Coal City High School she is also involved in Theatre, Choir, Madrigals and is a member of the Speech Team. Following graduation, Olivia will continue her education at a four year university double majoring in cinema and media studies and political science. Escorting Olivia on Senior Night were her parents Jessica and Judd Sage. 

 

Liam Seeley was honored for his four years as a member of the Marching Coalers Band. Liam is also involved in the school's Science Club, Gamer’s Guild, Jazz Band and Math Team. His future plans are to attend a four year college or university to work on a PhD in chemistry. Liam was escorted on Senior Night by his parents, Amy Seeley and John Seeley. 

 

William Vancura has participated in the Coaler Marching Band all four years of high school and his contributions were recognized on Senior Night. William is also a member of the school’s Gamer’s Guild. After graduation he plans to attend trade school. On Senior Night he was escorted by his parents, Jessica and Allan Vancura and his aunt, Amanda Jones.

 

Rhaina Vanek is a dedicated member of the Coalers music program and has participated in marching band for all four years of high school. She is also involved in Music Honor Society , Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Speech Team, PALS, SADD and competes with the Morris Swim Team. Rhaina plans to continue her education at a four year college or university majoring in psychology with a minor in pre-lab in advance of her plans to attend law school to have a career as a family advocacy lawyer. On Senior Night, Rhaina was escorted by parents, Julie and Brian Vanek. 

 

Meadow Viano is a three year member of the Coalers color guard and also participates in winter guard.  Meadow is also a member of the Art Club and Spanish Honor Society. Following graduation, Meadow will enlist in the US Marine Corps with an MOS of military police. On Senior Night, Meadow was escorted by her sister and brother-in-law, Crystal and Jimmy Peddicord.

 

Sam Vota is a four year member of the Marching Coalers Band and is drum major this year. Sam is also involved in Madrigals, Speech Team, Theatre, Drama Club, National Honor Society, Music Honor Society and performs in the Jazz Band. After graduation, Sam plans to study forensic science. On Senior Night, Sam was escorted by parents Leanne and Jon Vota. 

 

Nicholas Votta is a four year member of the marching band and his commitment to the program was recognized on Senior Night. After graduation, Nicholas plans to continue his education studying in the field of pre-law at a four year college or university. On Senior Night, Nicholas was escorted by parents, Jennifer and Michael Votta. 

 

Abby Kodat has been a dedicated member of the Coaler music program and has participated in marching band  all four years of high school. Abby is also a member of the Coalers Dance Team, Music Honor Society, Jazz Band, Drama Club and Theatre. Following graduation Abby plans to continue her education at a four year college or university. Escorting Abby on Senior Night were her parents, Ann and Eric Kodat.
