Coalers march away with second place at NIU Contest

Last weekend, the Marching Coalers competed at Northern Illinois University in the Red and Black Fall Classic. The band competed in the 1A division against six other bands in the Chicagoland area. The students performed movement one and two of their field show Rearrange which features music by Jeff Chambers, The Sound of Silence by Disturbed, and Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap.

The band received second place for this performance—the highest that the marching band has placed since 2013. They also tied for first place in the captions of Music and Visual General Effect.

The Marching Coalers have two contests left this season. They will be performing at the Downers Grove South Mustang Bowl on Oct. 4 and the Lincoln-Way Marching Band Invitational on Oct. 18. This weekend, the Marching Coalers will participate in the annual Grundy County Corn Festival Parade on Sunday afternoon in downtown Morris.
