Students show creativity in art and music

Students in fifth grade art  have finished up on their Paper Lanterns! This project took inspiration from the Line, Shape, and Form worksheet that they covered in class. Students had to draw ideas that were inspired from the worksheet into their three different windows. They also learned how to color a flame using three color pencils; red, orange, and yellow.

In music class they  learned rhythm and how to clap the rhythm while counting the beats. They  played the game, Royalty on the Mountain, which had students practice rhythm and beats. To challenge themselves, they learned about tempo and dynamics and how to add that to rhythms. For the game, they  added that along with rhythm and beats to see who could keep up!

Fourth grade art students recently finished their Monochromatic Landscapes! The idea for the project was to use a Polaroid shape frame and make our landscapes a layered style using one color pencil only. They learned in their Color Theory worksheet, that they did together, using one color pencil and pressure will give them different values. Using a light pressure gives them a light color and a harder pressure gives  a darker/vibrant color. Students were able to create different values with their one color and make a unique landscape with it!

In music class, they  did a similar thing with learning rhythm and counting beats. They also played Royalty on the Mountain and  talked about different dynamics and tempos. But for fourth  grade, teacher Mrs. Bajt shared the students  started right away with practicing their concert songs since they  have five songs to learn!

“I cannot wait to see how much they grow with the time we have together,” Mrs. Bajt said.

The teacher also shared that student Natalie Nowack was selected as an Artsonia Artist of the Week. For the honor the student received a $50 gift certificate to purchase art supplies from Blick Art Materials and a plaque for her artwork. Additionally, the school received a $100 gift card for Blick Art Materials.
