Ms. Foley’s second grade class has had a busy start to the school year. The students are getting into their routine and practicing their math facts daily.
“We changed addition facts into subtraction, and played games to help them with their fact families. They enjoyed using their whiteboard paddles to write their answers,” Ms. Foley said.
Students also had their first “Family Meeting.” Each Friday, students sit in a circle and discuss their week. They turn on the whiteboard fireplace and talk about the areas they are improving and good “glitter moments” that made them want to celebrate.
Ms. Foley shared that many students discussed moving up on their Rocket Math chart, while others mentioned they were proud of themselves for blurting out less. “These students are off to a great year,” she said.
