Coal City Girls Varsity Tennis team had an excellent showing at the LaSalle-Peru Invite last weekend, finishing in fourth place overall.
“While the competition was tough on Friday, our team came back with incredible energy on Saturday during the singles matches,” said Coach Matt Leman. Becca Hall led the charge, taking second place at #1 singles. She was followed by Camryn Planeta, who also secured second place at #6 singles.
The team's success continued with Kamryn Hansen and Kyla Stark each placing fourth at #4 and #5 singles. Kyla Kohler and Lanie Winke also played exceptionally well, each winning two of their three matches to become the consolation champions at #2 and #3 singles. Their strong performance helped the team secure a total of 32 points on Saturday, earning them the fourth place team finish.
The team's current record is 2-1, as they prepare to play Streator, Bishop McNamara, Mendota, and Gibson City this week.
