Orientation events for Coal City School District students begin this week, as Coal City High School will welcome the class of 2029 in for freshman orientation on Friday, Aug. 1.
All freshman students are encouraged to attend in order to learn more about freshman year and the opportunities available as a high school student.
Orientation will be held at the high school from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Students are to be dropped off and picked up from the Events Entry on the west side of the school.
Orientation for students attending Coal City Middle, Intermediate and Elementary Schools will take place on Monday, Aug. 4.
Coal City Middle School’s WEB Leaders will welcome sixth grade students with last names beginning with A-L from 8-9:30 a.m. and students with last names starting with M-Z from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Students should enter at Door 8 [gym entrance] and be dropped off at least 5 minutes prior to their scheduled orientation session.
Seventh and eighth grade students new to the school district are invited to take part in orientation activities at the middle school beginning at 11:30 a.m.
New Student Orientation for fourth and fifth grade students beginning their journey in the Coal City School District will be held at 9 a.m. at Coal City Elementary School and second and third grade students new to the district are to attend orientation at the Elementary School starting at 10 a.m.
The first day of student attendance for the 2025=2026 school year is Wednesday, Aug. 13.
