The Coal City High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America [FBLA] will be represented at the National Leadership Conference in California by three members—Peyton Gibson, Kylee Kennell and Grace Sitar.
The trio secured a trip to nationals after placing among the top four in their selected competitive events at the State Leadership Conference this spring.
This year’s FBLA National Leadership Conference and Competition is being held in Anaheim, CA from June 29 to July 2, and the Coalers will be heading west later this week to begin competition and to take part in the many activities that are part of the conference including workshops, speakers, and outings.
Grace Sitar qualified in the category of event planning and will begin competition on the morning of Monday, June 30, and the team of Peyton Gibson and Kylee Kennell will compete in the sales presentation category and begin competition that afternoon.
The Unit 1 Educational Foundation assisted the students with the cost of attending the national conference, as did the Unit 1 Board of Education.
FBLA is the largest career and technical student organization in the world with over 230,000 members. Coal City’s chapter is advised by business education teacher Harlan Kennell.
