29.5% of high school students involved in spring sports

 

 

This spring, Coal City High School has 29.5 percent of its students participating in a sport. 

 

In his monthly report to the Board of Education, Athletic Director Dan Hutchings outlined participation levels in each of the six spring sports. 

 

A total of 37 students are playing baseball for the Coalers. That includes 11 seniors, five juniors, nine sophomores and 12 freshmen. 

 

The girls soccer team has 33 players including six seniors, 12 juniors, five sophomores and 10 freshmen. 

 

There are 56 students involved in track and field this spring. The girls squad has 21 members, one senior, one junior, 10 sophomores and nine freshmen. The 35 member boys squad includes five seniors, three juniors, 14 sophomores and 13 freshmen. 

 

Taking the field in softball are 30 female athletes that include six seniors, eight juniors, nine sophomores and seven freshmen. 

 

A total of 27 Coalers are on the court this spring for the boys tennis squad including four seniors, seven juniors, seven sophomores and nine freshmen.
