Coalers place fifth at Spelling Bee, Pierard first in seventh grade

It’s a marvelous memory to be a part of the Spelling Bee and for three middle school Coalers they had the chance to represent their school and showcase their knowledge at the annual Illinois Valley Conference [IVC] Spelling Bee on Monday evening.

Spellers were Xavier Baer representing eighth grade, seventh grader Max Christensen and sixth grader Landyn Pierard.

Christensen had a phenomenal night placing first among seventh grade spellers. Overall, Coal City did really well taking fifth out of 11 teams.

The spellers are coached by Mrs. Munsterman and Mrs. Sweeney.
