Coal City High School library presented with military history book

 

Copies of World War I Gold Star Veterans of Grundy County were presented and will be on display in the Coal City High School and Coal City Public Library District libraries. 

 

The book was compiled by Carter Corsello and Jeff Poundstone of theGrundy County Veteran Legacy Center and Museum.  The publication features profiles of 38 Grundy County residents who died in active duty during World War I including 10 individuals from Coal City, two from Carbon Hill and one who resided in the village of Diamond.

 

St. Juvin Post 1336 Veterans of Foreign Wars donated the books to the libraries and the presentations took place at the Board of Education meeting on Feb. 7. VFW commander James Phillips presented the books to school district librarian Allison Peterson and Dana Abraham, who oversees senior programming for the public library.
