Lady Coaler seniors honored for commitment to volleyball program

The nine senior members of the Illinois Central Eight [ICE] Conference Champion volleyball team were honored for their commitment to the volleyball program during senior night activities on Oct. 18.

 

Julia Costello is a four year member of the volleyball team and recognized by her coaches for her dedication to the program and always having a fun attitude. Julia was escorted on senior night by Jen Costello and Jason Kotlar. After graduation she plans on a career in the field of cosmetology.

 

Teagan Fox is a four year member of the volleyball team who was selected by her teammates to serve as captain this year. Described by her coaches as one of the most positive people to have on a team, Tegan is a player who wants her teammates to succeed and do well. Tegan was escorted on senior night by Melissa and Jeffery Hodgen. She plans to continue her education at a four year college to study nursing.

 

Alaina Gill has been part of the Lady Coaler volleyball program for four years and serves as its manager. The coaches say she has the skills to manage not just volleyball, but the world. Alaina serves as president of the  student council and National Honor Society, and is a member of Spanish Honor Society and Link Leaders. She was accompanied on senior night by Amanda and Tony Gill. Her future plans are to attend Joliet Junior College to study nursing. 

 

Madison Gomez is a four year member of the volleyball team  and was commended by her coaches for her continued commitment to the program. In addition to volleyball, Gomez plays soccer and participates in FFA. Maddie was escorted on senior night by Dave and Becky Gomez. After high school she plans to continue her education at Joliet Junior College to study agriculture. 

 

Makenzie Henline is a four year member of the volleyball team and served as a captain this season. Her coaches noted her ability to remain calm in stressful situations and be a calming presence for her teammates. In addition to volleyball, Mackenzie plays basketball and softball, and participates in National Honor Society, Coolers with Character and Spanish Honor Society. She was escorted on senior night by her parents, Stephanie and Lonnie Henline. Her future plans are to  study nursing at a four year college or university.

 

Makayla Henline has been a four year member of the Lady Coaler volleyball team. She also plays softball and basketball for the Coalers and is a member of National Honor Society and Coalers with Character. Her coaches note she is a player who knows how to get things done. Makayla was accompanied on senior night by her parents Lonnie and Stephanie Henline. Following graduation in the spring she plans to study nursing and play softball at Rock Valley College.

 

Aubrey Mellen is a four year member of the volleyball team and was selected by her teammates as a captain this year. The coaches note Aubrey has a cool, calm demeanor on the court  and continuously works to be better.Aubrey was escorted on senior night by her parents Stephanie and Adam Mellen.  In the spring she will participate in soccer. Following high school she plans to enter the field of cosmetology and plans to attend esthetician school. 

 

Jadyn Shaw has been a part of the volleyball team for four years and has been the team libero for the past two years. She is described by her coaches as a role model to the younger athletes she works with as a student helper with the middle school volleyball program. Jadyn also plays softball for the Coalers and is involved in National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Coalers with Character. She was escorted by Kerrie and Joel Shaw.  Following high school she will continue her education  at Rock Valley College where she will study nursing and continue her softball career. 

 

Paige Walker is a four year member of the Lady Coaler volleyball team who, according to her coaches, came into her senior season ready to dominate. They commended her for her hard work and dedication to the program. Along with volleyball, Paige participates in basketball and track. She was accompanied. on senior night by her parents Amy and Robbie Walker. Her future plans are to attend Joliet Junior College and then transfer to Arizona State University where she will enroll in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.
