Coaler boys take second at ICE tournament, Clubb is girls tournament champion

The Coal City High School boys and girls golf programs competed in the ICE Conference Tournament on Monday. The boys team finished in second place with a 351 and the girls team had three individual medal winners including the tournament champion. 


Dakota Clubb, a junior, finished the day at  96 and the championship medal around her neck. Lady Coaler teammate Kylee Kennell, a junior,  was second and Emma Varnak, a sophomore, finished in fourth place. Each earned ICE All-Conference honors. 


Fellow Lady Coalers competing in the conference tournament were Madi Peterson, Livia Sulzberger and Cassidy Jenke. Peterson and Sulzberger finished among the top 10 golfers. 


On the course for the boys were senior Jack Varnak who finished the tournament in fourth place and 10th overall in the conference and fellow  senior Ryland Megyeri placed seventh in the tournament and came in second overall in the ICE Conference. Varnak and Megyeri were named All-Conference as was Culan Lindemuth, a junior.


Tournament golfers for the Coalers included Will McArdle, Ethan Bach and Griffin Winke.
