One of their lessons was on multiplying a whole number by a fraction or mixed number. After a few days of practice, students took their skills to the test by using recipes. Each student found a recipe of their choice. They wrote down all of the ingredients needed for one batch of their recipe. The next step was deciding how many batches of their recipe they were going to make. Students then multiplied the original recipe by the number of batches they were going to make in order to figure out how much of each ingredient was needed.
