2026 COALERS SUMMER ATHLETIC CAMPS

The Coal City School District will host a series of summer athletic camps. Registration for the various camps is open and can be accessed HERE. The cost to participate in a Coal City School District Summer Athletic Camp  is $35 per camper, per camp. Summer camps are for Coal City students only. Questions should be directed to the coach overseeing the camp  or Athletic Director Brad Boresi at bboresi@coalcityschools.org

YOUTH CAMPS

Tennis—Grades Pre-K-7
June 1-5
8-9:30 a.m.
Coal City High School Tennis Courts

Camp will focus on the proper technique to hit various ground strokes and serves. Other areas of focus will be on keeping score and court coverage, along with court positioning. Various drills and games will be played to develop skills and coordination.  Each camper will receive a T-shirt and prizes won during games.

Girls Basketball—Grades 4-8
June 1-5
9-10:30 a.m.
Coal City High School Competition Gym
Camp will emphasize the development of all basic fundamentals—shooting, ball handling, passing, defensive footwork, teamwork and sportsmanship. There will be contests and each camper will receive a T-shirt.

Wrestling—Grades 5-8
June 1-5
9:30-11-a.m.
Coal City High School Wrestling Room
Campers will learn the proper techniques and set-ups to take their opponent down. They will also learn how to defend their opponent’s takedown attempts. Wrestlers will also learn multiple pinning combinations, set-ups and escape techniques, as well as body awareness, mental toughness, mat awareness and how to take advantage of the opponent’s weaknesses.

Boys Basketball—Grades 5-8
June 8-12
9:30- 11 a.m.
Coal City High School Competition Gym
Players will develop fundamental skills of basketball. These skills include ball handling, shooting, passing and defense. The camp will be structured as station work, followed by a daily contest and finish with scrimmages. The qualities of sportsmanship, selflessness, and work ethic that they want to see in future Coalers will also be taught. Each camper will receive a T-shirt.

Soccer—Grades 5-8
June 15-19
6-7:30 p.m.
High School Soccer Field
Camp will focus on offensive skills including dribbling, shooting, crossing and finishing. Defensive skills including footwork, positioning, pressure and support. Along with goalkeeping, possession through movement and passing, goalie training, fun games for conditioning, small sided scrimmages daily and a 3 v 3 tournament.

Volleyball—Grades 4-8

Coal City High School Competition GymnasiumCampers will work on several fundamental skills throughout the weeklong camp. Defense—passing, defense, serve receive and blocking. Offense—serving, down balls, hitting and serving. Additionally, teamwork will be a focus during the camp

Campers will be introduced to the Coaler Football program with a focus on offensive and defensive philosophy and terminology, introduction to player positions and fundamentals of the game of football.

Softball—Grades 4-8
July 13-17
8:30-10 a.m.
High School Softball Field
Campers will work on offensive strategy—bunts, hitting, base running and steals. Defensive strategy—infield, outfield, pitching, coaching and communicating. As well as team work to have success on and off the field.

Baseball—Grades 6-8
July 22-24
9-10:30 a.m.
Coal City High School Baseball Field
Daily emphasis will be on the fundamentals of the game. Monday is offensive day focused on hitting and batting; Tuesday is defensive day focused on infield and outfield play; Wednesday is team day with a focus on relays, cutoffs and run downs; Thursday is individual day with a focus on positions and contests, and Friday is an instructional scrimmage day.
