Lobbying Information
Almost all government entities have lobbyists on retainer or are members of an association that lobbies on their behalf. Taxpayers have the right to know when their tax dollars are being spent to lobby other government agencies; many times local government agencies are lobbying for more revenue from other government agencies.
Coal City Schools is a member of FAIRCOM, an organization that uses McGuire Woods Consulting and Whitt Law to monitor all activities of the legislative and executive branches of government pertaining to power plant legislation. These firms also provide advocacy on behalf of public entities that tax utilities. Annual Membership dues are $5,000
The District is also a member of the Illinois Association of School Boards, which has a Lobbyist component. Annual Membership dues are $7,625
