The Coal City Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education is composed of seven elected officials who serve without pay, each dedicating four-year terms to the governance of our schools.

The primary responsibility of the Board is to provide effective leadership through governance. This includes setting goals, establishing policy, adopting the annual budget, ensuring a learning environment that supports student success, responding to stakeholders, and exercising careful oversight of district resources.

As a governing body, the Board is committed to transparency and open communication with the taxpayers and families of the Coal City Community Unit School District #1. Board members serve as representatives of the entire community and value the input of all district residents.

The Board encourages and welcomes public participation during its meetings. Each agenda includes two opportunities for public comment. However, some questions or concerns may be addressed more efficiently by contacting district administration prior to a scheduled Board meeting. Community members are encouraged to reach out to the superintendent’s office at 815-634-2287 for assistance.
