Scholarships
The Unit 1 Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to graduating Coal City High School students. The purpose of these scholarships is to promote education and training at an approved accredited college or technical/trade school, and to honor deserving students who demonstrate scholastic ability, moral character, leadership, community service, and financial need in pursuing their goals. Funds provided through these scholarships are grants and do not need to be repaid. Payment is made directly to the school the student attends upon the start of their first semester.
The following scholarships are administered by the Unit 1 Educational Foundation:

Unit 1 Scholarship — For any student planning to attend a university, college, or trade/technical school. Monetary amount could vary.

Coal City Firemen’s Association Scholarship — For students entering the Fire Science or EMT/Medical fields.

Indicom/Greg Hill Scholarship—For anyone entering the trades. Up to $1,000 awarded.

Reeves/Baskerville Scholarship — For students pursuing a career in Mortuary Science or Health Science. One $500 scholarship awarded.

Floyd and Norma Calcaterra Family Scholarship — For students entering the fields of Agriculture or Education. Must maintain an above C average in college to maintain the scholarship for all four years. Two recipients receive $1,000 for each of four years.

Matt Vignocchi Memorial Scholarship —For any graduating senior. Applicants must fill out the application called Matt Vignocchi Memorial Scholarship. Two $500 scholarships awarded

Lori Bonarek Realty Scholarship — For students pursuing a career in Real Estate. One $1,000 scholarship.

West Flooring Scholarship — For students pursuing a career in business. One $1,000 or two $500 scholarships.

Mary and Bill Gill Memorial Scholarship— For any graduating senior. Applicants must fill out the application called Mary and Bill Gill Memorial Scholarship. Two $500 scholarships awarded.
