Scholarships

The Unit 1 Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to graduating Coal City High School students. The purpose of these scholarships is to promote education and training at an approved accredited college or technical/trade school, and to honor deserving students who demonstrate scholastic ability, moral character, leadership, community service, and financial need in pursuing their goals. Funds provided through these scholarships are grants and do not need to be repaid. Payment is made directly to the school the student attends upon the start of their first semester. The following scholarships are administered by the Unit 1 Educational Foundation:

  • Unit 1 Scholarship — For students planning to attend a university, college, or trade/technical school.

  • Coal City Firemen’s Association Scholarship — For students entering the Fire Science or EMT/Medical fields.

  • Josh Cumming Memorial Scholarship — For students enrolling at Illinois State University.

  • Reeves/Baskerville Scholarship — For students pursuing a career in Mortuary Science or Health Science.

  • Rick Darling Memorial Scholarship — For students who participated in high school athletics.

  • Floyd & Norma Calcaterra Family Scholarship — For students entering the fields of Agriculture or Education.

  • Lori Bonarek Realty Scholarship — For students pursuing a career in Real Estate.

  • Matt Vignocchi Memorial Scholarship

  • Mary & Bill Gill Memorial Scholarship
